Small Groups 2025

Small Groups will begin the week of September 7th.

Small Groups are a vital step in nurturing spiritual growth, fostering community, and living out our faith in God.  As we commit to gathering together, we embrace the opportunity to learn, grow, and support one another in our journeys of faith.  Together, we can cultivate a vibrant church community that reflects the love and truth of Jesus Christ.  Join us as we explore the richness of scripture and the depth of fellowship in our Small Groups!

Common Questions about Small Groups
  • What does a small group do?
Small groups at COV typically meet together in a home, a coffee shop, restaurant, or even an extra room at COV sometime during the week.  Homes are preferred if at all possible.  When people gather in homes, they connect more personally than they might in public spaces.  There's always something to snack on.  There will be a short time of prayer.  Your small group leader will take prayer requests each week so that your group can be praying for each other.  Questions from the previous week's sermon will be discussed in the group.  Small group leaders are invited to do all they can to help people connect, so we pray it will be a special time for each person.

  • "I'm going on vacation.  Can I still be in a small group?"
YES!  We recognize that people need to vacation in order to recharge.

  • "Can I choose my small group?"
Sure.  Just sign up below so we know you have a group

  • "Can you choose a group for me?"
YES!  Just sign up below and we'll get you in a small group

  • "When will my small group meet during the week?"
That's totally up to your group.  Once you are in a small group, your small group leader will contact you by email or phone to try to find the best time for your whole group to meet.  Please select the day(s) of the week you know you won't be able to meet on.  That will help you and us find the right small group for you.

Common Questions about being a Small Group Leader
  • What is a small group leader?
Someone who can lead a small group of people, ask thoughtful questions about scripture through the Sunday sermon questions, and guide the conversation toward life application and healthy growth.
  • Have other questions?  Please feel free to include them below and we'll answer them during our Small Group Leader Training on Saturday, August 23nd from 10:00 - 2:00.  Lunch will be provided, we will answer your questions, make sure everyone has a small group, and pass out any materials you might need.

Getting to know you

The questions below will be used to either help your small group leader know a little about you or help us find the best small group for you.
Date

It's much easier to lead a group if you don't have to worry about cleaning the house, in addition to preparing to lead a group. Offering a home setting is a great support to the person who is willing to lead the group.

Keep in mind, the most effective small groups are never more than 12. Having more than 12 people in a group makes it harder on the small group leader to help everyone participate in the conversation. It's not impossible, it's just rarely done well.
